Mit der Reihe mdw hören macht die mdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien die künstlerische Vielfalt und Lebendigkeit der mdw hör- und erlebbar.
Ausgewählte Musikproduktionen, die im Rahmen des Studiums sowie der Entwicklung und Erschließung der Künste bei Projekten, Veranstaltungen, Masterclasses und Wettbewerben an der mdw entstanden sind, zeigen die künstlerische Arbeit von Studierenden aus den verschiedensten Studienrichtungen.
Unterschiedliche Besetzungen und Genres zeigen ein facettenreiches musikalisches Spektrum, das die große Vielfalt der mdw widerspiegelt – von Alter Musik über Klassik bis zu aktuellen zeitgenössischen und experimentellen Kompositionen, vom Instrumentalsolo bis zur Oper und von Kammermusik bis zur Big Band.
Die Aufnahmen werden teils vom Team des Audio-Video-Zentrums der mdw und teils von Studierenden aus dem Tonmeister_innenstudium produziert.
Die mdw zählt zu den weltweit größten und renommiertesten Universitäten für Musik, Theater und Film. Rund 3.000 Studierende aus 72 Ländern lernen und forschen hier in 123 Studienrichtungen. Zu den insgesamt 25 Instituten der mdw gehören unter anderem das Max Reinhardt Seminar und die Filmakademie Wien.

With the series mdw hören, the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna lets listeners hear and experience for themselves the artistic diversity and vitality of the mdw.
Students from a wide range of areas of study present their artistic work with selected music productions created as part of projects, events, masterclasses, and competitions at the mdw.
A variety of formations and genres show a multifaceted musical spectrum that reflects the mdw’s great diversity—from Early Music and classical works to current contemporary and experimental compositions, from instrumental solos to opera, and from chamber music to big band sounds.
The recordings were produced in part by the team at the mdw’s Audio-Video Centre and in part by students from the Tonmeister studies department.
The mdw is one of the world’s largest and most renowned universities for music, theatre, and film. Some 3,000 students from 72 countries study and conduct research here in 123 areas of study. The mdw’s 25 departments include the Max Reinhardt Seminar – Department of Drama and the Film Academy Vienna.
